STREET CAFE

CX500......What an ugly brute.

Front room, bottle of wine, ipad. 10 oclock at night, no wine.
Wake up in the morning.........Did I buy something last night? O Bo**ox it's in Chemlsford. mmmmmmm 320 mile round trip!

The start

Ducati monster UDS forks in, I managed to get my hands on a CX custom tank. Lot better looking tank than the original.

Tank found

The old comstar rear wheel and swinger, if you look closely you'll see that the old swinger is posh rotten.

rusty swinger

As the old swinger was nacked I decided to have a chop about!

need to find a 1 or 2

Not enough............so it needed more for what I had in mind.

not that much!

OOOooh there it is, NTV650 single sided swinger!

found an inch

Just a clean up on the frame ends.

clean up frame

Wanted to keep the original seems of weld, so followed them though.

caped and welded

Flick around with the grinder.

ground up

I wanted to use a under-slung shocker. I had a CBR600 rear shock that I set about to see if it would do the job.
It didn't!

forks and swinger

The CBR 600 shock wasn't strong enough and when in place would have been as much fun as a pogo stick!
I got my hands on a Buell Lighting rear shock, made up some mounts and tacked into place to see if it would do the job.
Works a treat.

Buell Lighting rear shock

Next was to mill the said mounts.

Milling

Mounts milled and ready to go into place. I randemly drilled holes in the mounts to make them look a bit better.

Milling Finshed

Welded into place and looking good if you ask me!

Welded into place

Next was the engine strip. Looked like the radiator had a leak at some time in it's life (pic 1) judging by the cyclinder water jacket.
Pic 2 all in bits ready for the shot blaster.

I needed to extened the stock gear shift for the rear sets.

Rear sets are off a YZF 600, I liked them because they had about the same shape as the frame and when in place had a nice hight to them.

Next I started with the seat base and then started rolling!

Last few bits to finish off with.

Exaust in place

Now for some filler and sanding

I got these of ebay for the zhaust system I had in mind

As you can see I've had a few good days of work!
Sorry to say this but I've just wet me pants.........................

Bike so far with seat unit and zhuast.

I had chance to get most of the sparying done to the frame, wheels, bits and bobs.

The build nearing completion.

Finshed!!!

If you want to take a look at all the pictures of the bike that I have taken Click Here

Here's the first ride! Not far I know.
